Anne C. Lewis is an education policy writer in the Washington, D.C., area. She is the national columnist for Phi Delta Kappan and two other monthly education magazines, Education Digest and Tech Directions.

A former award-winning newspaper reporter, Anne edited the weekly Education USA for 10 years and launched its daily news service, EDLINE, the first telecommunications network in the education community. She is the author of "Restructuring America's Schools" , published by the American Association of School Administrators; and several reports on urban education reform for the Edna McConnell Clark Foundation of New York City (most recently "Believing in Ourselves: Progress and Struggle in Urban Middle School Reform"). Her articles on education reform and policymaking have appeared in major newspapers.

Lewis has served as a consultant/writer to many education policymaking groups, including: Education Commission of the States, the College Board, the Danforth Foundation, the Academy for Educational Development, the Institute for Educational Leadership, the Council of Chief State School Officers, Independent Sector, the US Department of Education, and the National Education Goals Panel.

Anne is a past president of the Education Writers Association, a former member of the advisory board for Chicago's reform-watch publication Catalyst, and currently serves on the advisory board of City Schools.
