Background: Dave Keefe Education Reseacher Dave's recent professional activities include collaborating on several evaluations of educational technology projects in Virginia as an Education Researcher in the Washington, DC office of the Center for Technology and Learning at SRI International. He has been a technology consultant to the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and has consulted on distributed learning design at the George Mason University Center for BioDefense. He has taught in the graduate Technology for Educators program at Johns Hopkins University, and the School of Continuing and Professional Studies at the University of Virginia. He teaches a graduate course in Instructional Technology for instructors at the FBI Academy and Drug Enforcement Administration Academy in Quantico, Virginia. His dissertation developed a case study of the integration of a video learning center at a K-6 school. Dr. Keefe is a veteran of a 30-year career with IBM in product development laboratories and the IBM Research division. As the IBM Special Education Manager, Keefe represented the corporation at government, academic, and corporate meetings, giving scores of talks on topics dealing with technology support for special needs learners. In this role he also led pioneering programs that amplified the effect of technology on learning, disseminating results through annual summer institutes held in conjunction with sponsoring universities. In 1991 Mr. Keefe co-founded America Tomorrow, an "infopreneurial" consulting company, mentoring educational associations in the Washington, DC area. Dave earned a Ph.D. in Education, focused on Evaluation of Educational Technology, at the University of Virginia, where he was a graduate fellow in the Center for Technology and Teacher Education. Prior to completing his degree, he worked for two years as a research associate in the SRI Center for Education Policy in Washington, DC, collaborating with Dr. Raymond McGhee on educational evaluation projects.
